Hey Church!
We know that Summer is a crazy busy time for so many of us with vacations, camps, family events, and more. With that in mind, we wanted to let you know in advance what we’ll be doing on Sundays for June and July.
Beginning Sunday, June 6, we will start a new teaching series called, “Snapshots of a Changed Life”. We’ll examine the lives of 8 Biblical characters whose lives were radically changed through an encounter with God. In addition to looking through the stories of these people, we will also begin working towards equipping FSBC as a whole to begin sharing their life change story with others! We can’t wait to see how God is going to use this for His glory and our good! We hope you’ll make plans NOW to be a part of as much of this teaching series as possible!

Hey Church!
We believe that every time the body of Christ gathers is special. However the next two Sundays (July 18 and July 25) are going to be special in a different way than normal. We want you all to know what is going on so that you can participate and invite friends to come and worship with us!
Sunday July 18th is our kick-off for Vacation Bible School. We are still having two service times. At the 9:30 service we will have a regular worship experience with music and teaching. We are encouraging everyone to come and join us for our time of worshiping together at 9:30!
At the 11:00 service, we will be led in worship by our VBS kids who have been preparing a musical to share with us. We will sing together briefly and then the kids will share with us. Pastor Mark will then wrap up our time together.
I hope that each of you will make plans to join us at 9:30 and 11:00. We will have donuts and fellowship time between the two services like normal.
Sunday July 25th, we are inviting all of the families who brought their children to VBS to join us for a single service at 10:30 AM. We will sing together as a church, the different age groups from VBS will share some of their songs with us, and Pastor Mark will share from God’s Word. It is going to be a great Sunday celebrating all that God did the previous week during VBS!
These two Sundays look different than normal and we are excited to worship with the children of FSBC and the community of Liberal for the next two weeks! See you on Sunday!

Destination Dig: Unearthing the Truth About Jesus
At Destination Dig, kids will unearth more than just dirt. They’ll discover real-life archaeological finds that have helped to uncover the truth about Jesus. Stories from the Bible will leap off the pages as kids explore where Jesus walked and examine artifacts that bring the world of the Bible to life. As junior archaeologists, kids will study tangible pieces of the past to learn the truth about who Jesus is and why He came. Each day, kids will make crafts, play fun games, enjoy tasty snacks, sing cool songs, and learn about missions.
It’s Vacation Bible School time at First Southern Baptist Church Liberal! Children 4 years old by September 1 through 8th grade are invited to join us beginning Sunday, July 18 through Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 6-8:45pm.
This week of fun, food, and exciting learning opportunities is free of charge and open to everyone. Call 620.624.0186 or visit our website for more information.

What’s Your Story?
Have You Shared It?
All of June and July, we have been looking at Snapshots of changed lives in scripture. The truth is, if you are a follower of Jesus, you have a changed life as well. The story of that change is your testimony.
For the rest of the month, we are excited to invite you to share your story in a uniquely different way. We want to help you use the website www.1millionstories.org as a way of sharing your unique story of God’s work in your life. We will have a video booth set up and ready to record your video testimony for the next three weeks at FSBC. If you would prefer to simply write your story we can help you with that as well.
Once your story is uploaded to the website, it will be assigned a story number which you can share with others so they can view/read your testimony online. This is a unique tool you can use to share your story with anyone you are having a conversation with, be that conversation long or short. We will have “story cards” printed with our church information, the 1million stories web address and a blank for you to fill in your story number.
In order to help these recording sessions flow smoothly, here are a few things to consider:
- Start by writing down your story. While you don’t want to read your story to the camera, writing down what you want to share first can help you to organize your thoughts before coming to record.
Consider your “before/how/after.”
- What was your life like before you met Jesus? How did you live? What characterized your life?
- How were you introduced to Jesus and what convinced you that you were a sinner in need of salvation?
- How has Jesus changed your life? What characterizes your life now that you have asked Jesus to be your Lord?
- Make sure that the Gospel is clear. Focus on the Savior more than your sin. Our stories should make God the hero. He is the one who saves.
- Keep it short and simple. Especially for a video testimony, shoot for 3-4 minutes. If you are having a conversation with someone where you have more time and they are interested in hearing more, by all means keep sharing, but for this situation, brevity is our friend.
- Practice telling your story. Ask a friend or family member if you could share your story with them. Practice increases confidence.
- Come prepared to video on a Sunday morning, or sign up for a time to come video during the week. We want to make it as simple as possible for you to share.
We are excited to see how God will use your stories to grow His kingdom!

Bill Koehn Mission Offering
Our local missions offering, “The Bill Koehn Missions Offering” is named after a former FSBC member who gave his life while serving at the Jubli Baptist hospital in Yemen. Bill and others were struck down by a Muslim militant.
Bill’s service to Christ lives on as we follow his lead and God’s teachings to reach others with the Gospel of Christ. Isaiah 49:6 says “And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.” KJV.
FSBC supports mission works and missionaries on a year round basis.
We are also planning our summer outreach events in order to reach our community with the Gospel. These events are June 25: Liberal Night Out, July 17: Liberal Bee Jay’s buy out, August 20-21: Rodeo, Sometime in September: Car Wash at Squeaky Clean, and October 29: Trunk or Treat for Cottonwood Elementary. Please plan to join us on these dates in making a difference in our community.
The Bill Koehn Missions Offering is used to support these mission works and others. Our goal this year is $2,000. Please consider giving sacrificially to help reach this goal.
