Don’t forget to set your clocks 1 hour ahead before you go to bed Saturday night!
On Sunday, March 6th, we will begin a new teaching series called “Filters, Temptation is Never What It Seems”. Based on 1 John 2:15-17, this teaching series will equip us with the ability to identify temptation and understand it for what it truly is – an attempt to enslave you. If you’ve ever been tempted to do something, say something, or think something wrong, this series is for you!

Michael & Traci Byrd: Serving the Abandoned
“All people have the same heart condition in small towns and in the big urban centers,” Michael said. “We all need the same Jesus.” By canvassing the community, the Byrds quickly found their assumptions of needs were different from reality. Building relationships over shared meals, offering group cooking lessons and even trips to the grocery store have become pathways to meeting needs and discipling new believers. And now Faith Community Bible Church has expanded to a second campus. But God called them to return and plant Faith Community Bible Church. Their mission is to care for people who feel abandoned, Michael said. The neighborhood, which is 95% African-American, has a high poverty rate, a high crime rate, and mostly single-parent homes. More than a decade ago, Michael and Traci Byrd moved out of a rough inner-city neighborhood of St. Louis, swearing they’d never go back.
Prayer Requests
For the Byrds to have wisdom in creatively reaching their neighbors.
For God to open hearts to the gospel through the Faith Community Bible Church.
This year’s goal to support missionaries working in North America (US, Canada, and their territories) through the NAMB (North American Mission Board) is $2,000. Please join us in supporting the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering! This week’s video ishttps://vimeo.com/645374593

Hey Church! We need your opinion! This year, following Easter Sunday, we’re going to begin a 6-week teaching series called, “You Asked For It”. In this series, YOU will be selecting the 6 topics for each week’s message. To best collect your opinions, we’ve put together a survey that will allow you to select up to 6 topics OR there’s an option for you to request an unlisted topic. So, if you’ve ever said, “I wonder what the Bible says about ________”, this series is right up your alley!
You’ve probably already heard that there are some changes coming regarding the staffing of our Kids Ministry. In the event that you haven’t heard, both Norma Jean Dodge, our Children’s Coordinator, and Nique Brown, our Nursery Coordinator, have prayerfully decided to step down from their respective positions effective December 31 last year. We’re incredibly grateful for their years of service and for the healthy way in which both ladies are pursuing this change! If you have any questions or concerns regarding the transition of Norma Jean or Nique, please take the time to seek these ladies out and talk to them directly.
As we look towards the future of our Kid’s Ministry here at First Southern Baptist Church, we will be pursuing a single, full time position for the role of Kid’s Coordinator (this position will include oversight of kids, birth – 5th grade). If you’re interested in this position, or know of someone who might be, check out the link below! If you have questions about the position, check out the link below! If you just want to be in the know about the details of this position, check out the link below!
In the meantime, we would greatly appreciate your continued prayers for wisdom and understanding as the Personnel Team is seeking God’s will regarding the individual who will fill this role.
