Welcome to First Southern Baptist Church

We would like to invite you to interactively study the Bible with us. We have Sunday School and Bible Study for everyone.
 
Pre-School Classes

Children’s Classes
 
Grades 1 & 2 – Room 209                      Lora Lou Hershey (Helper Position Open)
This class uses the Worship KidStyle curriculum, which brings the Bible stories to life in a way kids will understand.  Children watch attention-holding life application videos that speak to them in their own language and show them how God's Word relates to their lives.  Afterwards, the children discuss what they saw and how they can apply God's truth when they leave the classroom!  A brief introductory video presents the session's theme through fun, exciting activities.  Kids also sing along to music videos and participate in Bible study, prayer time and fun review activities. 
 
Grades 3 & 4 – Room 208                                Dan & Charlene Plett

Grade 5 – Room 207                                 Jim Dodge/Cheryl Dreitz
This class uses the curriculum, Flyte. Flyte is a curriculum that addresses the issues that 5th and 6th graders are dealing with right now at church, school and home.  Small group discussions are supplemented with instructional and entertaining videos.  Fltye shows the students that Bible study is more than discussing a collection of stories; it provides a framework for dealing with any situation they may face.
 
Youth Classes
Middle School Youth – Room 107                                 Kathy Harris/Cheryl Collins
High School Youth – Room 203           Ashley & Brock Kappelmann/Wade & Alli Lyon/Todd Brown
These classes use the Student Life 1.0 curriculum which allows youth to study the Bible using Drama, Videos, Activity and Interactive Discussion to help youth with the issues facing them as they mature and prepare to lead their families and the church of the future.
 
Adult Classes
Marriage Ministry - Room 201/202 - Matt & Robyn Friederich
This class is designed to help people see the Bible come alive using videos and interaction to transform understanding of God and His Word and challenging you to put your faith into action in areas relevant to marriage and family.
 
Connections in Christ - Room 209- David & Britt Short
This class is for young people, married or single, with or without children, who desire to connect with fellow believers to learn and apply God's standards for life as well as build lasting relationships both in and outside of the church building.
 
Leaving a Christian Legacy - Room 210 - Senior Adults
This class is for those that have entered the golden years. This class is active in service to each other and the church as they study the Bible together to learn how to pass their faith on as a legacy to the next generation.
 
Young Adults - Room 211 - Shelly Martin
This class is for young professionals and involves various studies applicable to beginning professional life and continuing on a godly path.
 

Middle Adults - Room 217 - Bob Dietrick/Richard Isaacs
This class is for adults of all ages and they study the Explore the Bible curriculum from Lifeway.  The class involves teaching, discussion and interaction as participants study portions of books of the Bible each week with a goal to explore the Bible in three years.

Women - Room 218 - Linda Potts
This class is specifically designed for women who are single, divorced, widowed or whose husbands do not attend church with them. They use the Lifeway Curriculum LifeValues for Empty Nest Adults. This class has a wonderful sense of camaraderie and fellowship as they study the Bible and deal with life’s challenges together.

Bible Study for Life - Room 219 - Brad Morris/Evan Winchester
This class is for people with a need for the Bible to be applied to normal, everyday situations.  They are studying the Bible using a Scripture Meditation Journal for mutual discovery and application as well as encouragement and accountability.

 
College - Room 220 - Troy & Melissa Emery
This class is for younger adults in college or just starting out.  They study a variety of topics of interest to their stage of life and spiritual development.
 
Escuela Domingo En Espanol - Fireside Room - Rubner Sobalvarro/Rubin Ramos
This class is taught in Spanish and digs in to the Bible to deal with issues of the Christian life from a Hispanic perspective.  This class is especially helpful for families where parents speak Spanish and the children speak English.
