Our Summer sermon series this year is, “He Really Said That?!” We’ll take a look at some of the shocking statements Jesus made during his ministry. Statements like:
Anger = murder
Being maimed > continuing to sin
Unless you hate your family, you cannot be my disciple
These statements can be difficult to swallow in light of the kind, loving, Jesus that we prefer to envision. However, Jesus really said this and a lot more. Check us out Sunday at 11 am to get to the bottom of Jesus’ shocking statements!
Through the summer we have enjoyed spending our Sundays singing, praying, and studying together. As we consider the plans for this fall, there are a couple of options we can pursue for our weekly times of worship. We need some input from you, the congregation, to help us as we prayerfully consider the options. Would you please fill out our survey to let us know your preference? You can find the survey by using the link below or picking up a paper copy from the office. Thank you in advance for your participation!
KNCSB Women’s RENEW Conference Webster Conference Center, Salina, KS September 16 and 17
We recently received new information! The conference will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, instead of the 1:00 p.m. time we previously had. This means that we would need to leave Liberal very early Friday morning (think 6:00 a.m.) or drive the day before.
The $78 registration for on-campus will include one night and five meals. Off-campus (if staying in a hotel) $68 registration will include four meals. We must send in our registrations no later than August 21st.
The conference will include a speaker, worship music, many workshops to choose from, and much more. The beautifully renovated conference center is where our children and youth go for their summer camps. Singing along with 400 other women is always a wonderful experience. The worship and speakers are always inspiring.
If you would like more details, please phone Kathy Reimer at 620-624-0368, e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org, or catch Kathy at the Welcome Center between Sunday School and Morning Worship. She would love to try to answer your questions and encourage you to attend this conference! In past years, groups of women from FSBC have traveled together to the conference and have always found it to be an uplifting experience.
Small Groups here at FSBC Liberal encompass a few different types of groups. We have Sunday School classes that meet weekly all year long, we have Community Groups that meet in homes on various evenings, and we have special Bible Study groups that will meet for a specified time to study something specific. As we head into the Fall, we are excited by the idea that every person in our congregation would be involved in a small group of some sort! Are you in a group? Would you consider hosting or leading a group? Pastor Jeremy would love to talk to you about the groups we currently have or about starting a new group this fall! Dear Prayer Warriors,
We want to THANK YOU so much for your prayers for our summer ministry and my (Connie’s) health. God has been at work in a mighty way! After finding out about my cancer, we weren’t sure if we would be able to do our summer ministry. But the cancer did not slow me down! We helped at 2 weeks of youth camps and a weekend family camp, then 3 Vacation Bible Schools! Although the evil one fought hard, God won the victory!! 18 accepted Christ!!!! God used the testimony of my cancer as a vehicle to share the Gospel and to remind Christians (of all ages) that our God is still our Sovereign, Faithful, Loving, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent God! Circumstances don’t change WHO our God IS!
On July 21st, I had my follow-up multi-disciplinary clinic with the doctors at UC Health. The doctors said they would have been really happy if my injections had stopped the growth of the cancer…. BUT …not only did they stop the growth, they also slightly shrunk the tumor on my pancreas! Not only is my cancer rare, but it is extremely rare and unusual for it to shrink!!! I told the doctors that a lot of people were praying. They said it was working!! The surgeon said he didn’t want to put me through a major surgery to remove the tumor due to several cancer lesions on my liver. He knew he wouldn’t be able to get all the liver lesions. Therefore, at this point, they want me to continue taking the monthly shots (since they are working) and check back in 4 months (about December 1st). We would appreciate your continued prayers for the tumor to continue to shrink and for God to remove the lesions on my liver!
