Hello Church, As you may or may not have heard, this past year the Southern Baptist Convention (which we are a part of) hired a third party group to investigate claims that as an entity the SBC has mishandled reports of abuse within our denomination. The report from that investigation was released this week and the findings are heartbreaking. While our church has not been part of this abuse, we mourn with those who have been abused at the hands of ministers and whose claims have been too often ignored. We are praying that this report will lead to change in how we respond and help. We wanted you to be informed of this situation so that if someone asks you about it you are not caught off guard. Hey Church Family, With summer just around the corner, our annual youth summer camp will be here soon. Our hope this year is to take 70 campers (students and sponsors). We are well on our way to this and we’re seeking out members of our church family to partner one to one with each of our campers in a program we call “Adopt-A-Camper”. Here’s what we are hoping for from each person who partners with us: 1. A financial donation of any amount. This donation will help defray the cost of camp for all of our students. All donations will be spread across all campers. 2. A commitment to pray. When you agree to adopt a camper you will be given a prayer band to remind you to pray for our campers in the week leading up to camp as well as during Super Summer. I will additionally send out prayer prompts by text to help guide you on how to pray for our students. 3. A commitment to encourage. As camp approaches you will be paired with a particular student. You will receive a picture of them so you can put a name with a face. Using this we are hoping you can encourage your student before and after camp. Additionally I will provide addressed envelopes so you can send notes of encouragement to your student which they will receive while at Super Summer. We are looking for 70 adopters, to cover every one of our campers, so chances are we need you! Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us? -Todd Brown
