                                     Fall Teaching Series!!

Join us as we continue our fall teaching series: Holy Ghost Stories, Astonishing Tales From the Book of Acts!  This series will take us through 13 different accounts of the Holy Spirit leading the early church of Jesus Christ. This is such an exciting teaching series because the same Holy Spirit that equipped the early church to serve, love, and impact their world for Jesus is the same Holy Spirit who is at work in us today!  Don’t miss it!  Be sure to bring a friend along!
December 5th marks the start of our Lottie Moon Christmas offering!
Churches connect with missionary task Central America and the Caribbean.
Tim and Tina Louderback and Sean and Shelley Blacksten are passionate about equipping and connecting churches with opportunities to serve in Central America and the Caribbean. The Louderbacks and the Blackstens serve with the International Mission Board in Panama, and the Louderbacks lead the Americas Connect program.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
  • Pray for inroads for Indigenous believers who are reaching the lost.
  • Pray churches who participated in Americas Connect will continue to pursue opportunities to serve.
  • Pray the Lord will facilitate more church connections and opportunities to serve.
This week we can pray for Sean and Shelley Blacksten, Tim and Tina Louderback who many of us know right here from our community. While the Louderbacks are fully funded they hope to have groups from FSBC join them in reaching those in Panama City. And YES we are working on sending a small group in early 2022!
This offering is unique in that 100% of our gifts provide for missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 175-year history of reaching the nations with the gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ. Our goal this year to support our IMB missionaries is $2,000.
This week’s video is of William Haun, IMB missionary working through “Send Relief” in the African village of Kolinvaai.

Ladies’ Legacy Invites You!
“Treasuring God in Our Christmas Traditions”
Sunday, December 12
2:30-4:30 p.m.
at Shari Abbott’s home, 2431 Lilac
“Will the next generation treasure God because of our family traditions?  Noel Piper believes that by our traditions we can help the next generation treasure God, and at the same time deepen our own love for him…He uses God-centered traditions and Bible-saturated family patterns and grace-laden heirlooms.  Year in and year out our traditions can show children that God is our Treasure.  With family traditions rooted firmly in the Bible, the next generation absorbs the truth that the treasure we have in God is ancient in wisdom and strength—and fresh as the morning dew.”—from Treasuring God in Our Traditions by Noel Piper
Join us
for an afternoon of inspiration, sharing, music, and Christmas snacks, as we are reminded of the opportunity we as women are privileged to have of leaving a legacy for “treasuring God in our Christmas traditions.”
If you would be willing to help with snow removal on Sunday mornings when needed here at the church, please contact Rick Keating at 620-629-3138.
Hey Church –

You’ve probably already heard that there are some changes coming regarding the staffing of our Kids Ministry. In the event that you haven’t heard, both Norma Jean Dodge, our Children’s Coordinator, and Nique Brown, our Nursery Coordinator, have prayerfully decided to step down from their respective positions effective December 31 this year. We’re incredibly grateful for their years of service and for the healthy way in which both ladies are pursuing this change! If you have any questions or concerns regarding the transition of Norma Jean or Nique, please take the time to seek these ladies out and talk to them directly.

As we look towards the future of our Kid’s Ministry here at First Southern Baptist Church, we will be pursuing a single, full time position for the role of Kid’s Coordinator (this position will include oversight of kids, birth – 5th grade). If you’re interested in this position, or know of someone who might be, check out the link below! If you have questions about the position, check out the link below! If you just want to be in the know about the details of this position, check out the link below!

In the meantime, we would greatly appreciate your continued prayers for wisdom and understanding as the Personnel Team is seeking God’s will regarding the individual who will fill this role.

Thank you,
Pastor Mark

As I think of Thanksgiving approaching this  year my thoughts are much different than years past.

As most of you know, Sharon and I have had quite a year.  Spending many days in hospitals for various reasons.
We are thankful for God’s faithfulness and the strength he has given us through it all.  HE has also shown us how much our church family cares and put it into action.  We do not have adequate words to express our appreciation for the thoughtful cards, flowers and meals that we have received along with the many prayers. This year at Thanksgiving we will be focused a lot more on the love of God and his people and less on worldly blessings.

THANK YOU!
Jimmie and Sharon Farr
