Join us on Sunday for our sermon series!
Sherrie Fausey founder and CEO of Christian Light School will speak about the school on Sunday evening September 27th at 5:00 PM in the fellowship hall.  Come and hear how God is working through her and the school in bringing up Christian children and youth.  We have been a part of this school starting in 2001, and in 2009 we started involvement in the construction end of the school.  Our next planned trip is December 26, 2020.  Come and learn about this ministry.  Reaching out touching lives and sharing in word of God!

“Continuing the Winding Path to Christian Light School”
FSBC Fellowship Hall
Monday, September 28, 2020
6:30-8:30 p.m.
(light supper provided – no childcare)
Sherrie Fausey started Christian Light School about 20 years ago, to provide Christian education to impoverished children and families in a “ravine” area of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  God has provided for and blessed her vision. Through hurricanes, earthquakes, and epidemics, CLS has grown to what it is today-hundreds of children being educated from pre-school age children to high school graduates, some of whom are attending university, as well as returning to CLS as teachers themselves, with a large staff of committed teachers and support workers.  With the support of many churches and individuals, God has taken one retired teacher’s vision, and blessed an entire nation.

FSBC has had the privilege to be one of those supporting churches, with our gifts of money and regular teams of people traveling to Haiti, beginning in 2003 with a first grade teacher who followed God’s leading to help Sherrie in the early days of CLS. Through the years many FSBC members and friends have helped build the campus to the beautiful facility that it is today, and to help keep it maintained.  Team members have played with children, listened to readers, built chairs and desks, designed and maintained the system for solar energy, helped with the feeding program, taught first aid courses, provided teacher training, and much more.

Whether you have heard Sherrie speak several times, or not at all, please join us for this evening of information and inspiration, so that we’ll be better equipped to support Sherrie, as well as our team members going to Haiti in December, with our prayers, interest, and finances.

September is the start of our Viola Webb Missions Offering. Viola found many ways to share her passion about missions as a pastor’s wife and ultimately serving through the Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptists. We split the offering between the Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptist and the Western Kansas Baptist Association (WKBA).Our goal this year is $3,000.

Prayer for Deacons

The Deacon body has continued to meet since the pandemic.  Sometimes the meetings have occurred via Zoom but as restrictions have eased, we have met in person to pray for our pastor, his family and our church family.  Presently there are eight serving deacons.  The Deacon body doesn’t feel like that is sufficient to meet all that is required to serve effectively.  In the coming weeks you will be receiving a call for deacons. As we begin the steps necessary to do this, the Deacons are asking that you pray along for God’s direction as we move toward this call.  Presently, our  Deacons are:
  • Jim Dodge
  • Gary Classen
  • Jimmie Farr
  • Richard Isaacs
  • Steve McKee
  • David Short
  • Gary Staiger
  • Doug Werner
If you feel God nudging you to serve as a deacon but are concerned that you just don’t know enough about the Bible, please consider that a deacon is, above all else, a servant.  (Acts 6).   In fact the scriptural qualifications of a deacon found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13 focus on character and family life and not how many Bible verses you can quote from memory.  Please pray for God to bring to mind the men of our church who can fill this vital role.

If you should have any questions about deacons and what they do, please do not hesitate to contact any of the deacons named above.
