Speak Up

Jan 18, 2026    Jeremy Harris

The sermon explored the urgent nature of our mission as followers of Christ, drawing from James 4's reminder that our lives are but a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Just as the microscopic gastrotrich lives only 3-10 days, our lives are incredibly brief from God's eternal perspective. This reality should compel us to embrace our calling as "heralds" of the gospel—not just living righteously or inviting people to church, but actually opening our mouths to share the good news of Jesus. The message challenged the popular but incomplete notion of "preach the gospel at all times, and if necessary use words," reminding us that the gospel IS a message that requires words. We cannot stop at righteous actions and church invitations; we must vocally point people to salvation through Christ.
