When Good Intentions Become A Satanic Distraction
Feb 8, 2026 • Andrew Puett
This week's sermon took us into one of the most jarring moments in Peter's journey with Jesus—from being called "blessed" to being called "Satan" in a matter of minutes. In Matthew 16, we witnessed Peter's dramatic fall from declaring Jesus as "the Messiah, the Son of the living God" to rebuking Jesus for speaking about His necessary suffering and death. This powerful passage reveals how even our best intentions, when not aligned with God's plan, can become obstacles to His work. The sermon challenged us to examine how we might unknowingly do the devil's work by resisting God's uncomfortable but necessary plans, and reminded us that the way of the cross—though difficult—is central to both our salvation and our discipleship.
