A Changed Heart

The sermon explored the final chapter of Jonah's story, where we discovered that answering God's call is only part of the journey—having our hearts aligned with God's heart is the ultimate goal. After Jonah finally obeyed and preached to Nineveh, resulting in the entire city's repentance, he became angry that God showed them mercy. This revealed a deeper issue: Jonah cared more about his own comfort (symbolized by a vine that gave him shade) than about 120,000 souls. God's gentle confrontation of Jonah exposes a danger we all face—spiritual narcissism, where church becomes about meeting our needs rather than reaching the lost. The sermon challenged us to examine whether we truly have God's heart for those far from Him, or if we're content with our comfort while others remain separated from God. True life change happens when our hearts break for what breaks God's heart.
