The Problem with Heroes
Jul 19, 2026 • Andrew Puett
The sermon explored how Paul introduces two seemingly unremarkable men—Timothy and Epaphroditus—immediately after presenting the breathtaking theology of Christ's humility. These weren't spiritual superstars; they were ordinary people who put "work boots" on the mind of Christ. Timothy demonstrated relentless consistency through genuine concern for others, while Epaphroditus showed reckless abandon by literally risking his life for the gospel. Together, they challenge our culture's obsession with self-promotion and self-preservation, calling us instead to a life of sacrificial service right where we are.
